BARWON HEADS 01
This residential project involved a thoughtful series of additions and alterations, highlighted by a new second-storey addition accessed via a simple and elegant steel spiral staircase. The upper level accommodates two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a study nook, each enjoying leafy views over the large established garden.
At ground level, the dining area was extended, and a generous void was introduced to bring natural light deep into the centre of the home. High ceilings, new timber flooring, and structural re-stumping transformed the once uneven foundations into a refined and stable living environment. Custom-built joinery, including banquette seating, enhances functionality while contributing to the home’s calm and cohesive aesthetic.
The original bluestone building, with its robust character and historic presence, provides a strong foundation and visual anchor for the contemporary interventions above.
The result is a balanced and light-filled family home that respects its heritage while creating contemporary spaces for modern living.
